Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how English for Dispute Resolution (“EDR,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Barrie J. Roberts, collects, uses, and protects information when you visit englishfordisputeresolution.com and its pages, including course pages such as BRNO (together, the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Information you give us. We collect information you choose to provide, including:

  • Contact form: your first name, last name, email address, and message.

  • Newsletter sign-up: your first name, last name, email address, and location.

  • Course accounts (for example, BRNO): your email address when you sign in with an email link, or your name and email address from Google when you choose “Continue with Google.”

  • Course answers: the responses, notes, checklists, and other work you enter into course forms on the Site.

  • Articles or stories you submit for the blog, and any other information you send to us by email.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider may collect basic technical information, such as your browser type, device type, pages visited, referring website, and approximate location based on your IP address. We use this information in aggregate to understand how the Site is used and to keep it secure and working properly.

Information stored in your browser. Course pages save your answers in your browser’s local storage so that your work is not lost if you close the page. If you sign in, your sign-in session is also stored in your browser so you stay signed in. You can clear this information at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • respond to your questions, requests, and messages;

  • send you the newsletter and updates about EDR webinars, trainings, conferences, articles, and resources, if you sign up;

  • create and maintain your course account and save your answers so you can access them on different devices;

  • support teaching and learning in EDR courses and workshops;

  • review and publish blog submissions you send us, with your permission;

  • operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How We Share Your Information

We share information only as needed to operate the Site and provide our services:

  • Service providers. We use trusted providers to host the Site and its forms (Framer) and to store course accounts and saved answers (Supabase). If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us to verify your identity. These providers process information on our behalf and under their own privacy and security commitments.

  • Instructors. If you take a course, your instructor may view work you choose to submit or share as part of the course.

  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of EDR, our users, or others.

Data Retention

We keep contact messages and newsletter information for as long as needed to respond to you and to send you updates you requested. Course accounts and saved answers are kept for as long as your account is active or as needed for the course. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see “Your Choices and Rights” below).

Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on stored course data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices and Rights

You can:

  • unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us;

  • use the “Clear answers” buttons on course pages, sign out, or clear your browser data to remove information stored on your device;

  • ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop using it for a particular purpose.

Depending on where you live (for example, in the European Union or the United Kingdom), you may have additional rights under data protection laws such as the GDPR, including the right to object to processing, to request data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address below. We will respond within a reasonable time and as required by law.

International Users

EDR is based in the United States, and our service providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries. By using the Site, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for adult learners and professionals. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Links to Other Websites

The Site may link to other websites and services, such as LinkedIn, Google, publishers, and articles. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page and change the effective date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
